I need this explaining to me....
At the moment i use bone staff 8 energy 10-11 damage (requires 6 blood magic) or somet like that. The staff gives me 8 energy and does 10-11 damage...fine i dont have 6 blood magic.

Icon drops 9 Energy(Requirement 6 Healing Prayers)
I equip it, it gives me 6 energy and I have more than 6 in Healing Prayers. I don't understand this requirements thing at all. I would understand if not meeting requirements would mean that you weren't able to equip or that it didn't do what it states but it does....

Anyone shed any light?

I just had the same thing yesterday. I found a bow that required '13 marksmanship' and I was using it. But I had 12 marksmanship.

Do you get a penalty for not meeting the requirements, or do these requirements mean nothing?

Basically, you can use ANY weapon in the game, regardless of class. The thing is that if you don't meet the requirements of the weapon, you won't get the effectiveness that it would normally have. Say you have a bow that does 13-23 damage and requires a 13 in marksmanship and you only have a 12. You can use the bow, but it might only do 8-11 dmage for you.

The sad part is that they won't tell you what the actual damage range is for those of us that don't meet the requirements. I might know that the aforementioned bow isn't doing 13-23 damage. What I don't know is if it is doing 8-11..or 10-19.. or what.

It would be nice if we were given that information, but perhaps that also is part of the penalty for not meeting the requirements.

So why does the bone staff that i don't meet the requirements to, and don't even have the area to put attributes in do the damage it states? and why does the icon that i do meet the requirements to only add 6 energy instead of the 9 energy it states?

Sorry Spirit, this confuses me as well... you should not be receiving the full benefit of the Staff and you should be receive the full benefit of the Icon... one possibilty on the Staff is that you seem to be hitting for the full damage because of the armor level of the monsters you are fighting, or perhaps only the energy is linked to Blood Magic and not the damage. Also, are you using Censor's Armor for your monk? Since this decreases your energy pool, perhaps you are getting the 9 en but only seeing a net of 6 en since you are not starting from 30 en?

No not using the censors armour am using all the +5 armour. My energy is at 30 without weapon. I equip the staff and its at 38 i equip the icon and its 36. Im competely stumped. I now have no idea what the requirements mean now after guessing the obvious before but it seems i was wrong. I been playing around a bit with weapons and i have been testing other stuff like things that require domination magic or earth magic. They all give me the stated amount of energy yet this icon doesn't. It is so rare that you see something that says (requires ? Healing Prayers) so when i found this icon i thought 1 energy more and i meet the requirements...nice i can just use any random wand as believe me dealing damage is the last thing you would want me to do as 10 damage every 2 seconds or 5-6 on a warrior isn't a whole lot.
